A monthly plan makes sense when you use something every day at a steady rate. Random chat is not like that — some weeks you open it twice, some weeks not at all. Coins mean you pay for the calls you actually have, and nothing renews behind your back.

You will not hit a wall in the first minute

Getting matched and having a text conversation do not spend anything, so you can see whether the place suits you before any question of money comes up.

What we are not going to claim

That it is free forever. It is free to start and free for a good deal of what you will do, and video call time runs on coins. Any site telling you an unlimited live video service costs nothing indefinitely is telling you something else instead.
